Thriving happily naturally!
OUR RADICALLY ACCEPTING FLOW
I know in my gut my child's true-life flow will flourish when they live by the sea. When we go to the beach, it's like they are returning home. Like two long lost friends reuniting.
Except no one is lost.
I mean it's hard to lose the ocean.
More like, "oh there you are,
it's sooo good to see you again!"
Our coastal friend does for my child what society can't – be their home! Right now we'll make do with travelling 6 hours many weekends to the coast and back during the warmer months.
If we arrive after 3 hours of travel and the conditions aren't right for the ocean or within my child, we practice Radical Acceptance of our neurobiology, what we need to be okay and apply Fluid Plans and drive back home and try another time.
As my soul friend says,
"It's all about choice".
Oh, yes it is!
OUR LANGUAGE, OUR NARRATIVE
As proud Neurodivergent Autistics, equals to non-Autistics, we use respectful language when talking about our identity, culture, neurology and experiences.
We find pathology deficit narratives about our beautiful Autisticness deeply offensive.
We free ourselves from societies demand and expectation that we fix, change or cure to 'fit', and reclaim, respect and protect our Identities and Culture and nurture our Neurodivergent Flow: the natural way we love, play, learn, work, live and heal.
We celebrate who we are, born perfectly in our own, is our way.
We use identity-first language, 'I am Autistic' opposed to people 'with Autism'
We use Autistic, Autism or Autism Spectrum: and drop the word 'with', and 'Disorder'
Co-occurring experiences replace 'co-morbidity' or 'condition'
We respect our Innate Pursuits and refrain from describing our meaningful, purposeful passions as 'special interests'

When I first attended your group with grandma, I didn’t think it would impact me like it has...that something has lit up again. It lit up and it’s burning.

"Yes, having the opportunity to learn about health, relationships, everything that was talked about helped me realise that I’m no different from everyone else. I use to think I was ugly and that no one liked me. I actually feel good about myself, no one is better than me. I’m perfect in my own way. I like myself a lot more and realise who I am. ”

connection is life!

How are you going to save me?'
Waiting for others to save us nearly killed us. We don't do that anymore.
We save ourselves by listening within to what we need to be okay and to thrive.
Both my child and I started experiencing suicidal ideation as children, so has my Neurodivergent parent, housemate and many friends and their children.
This is a shared lived experience.
Suicide is one of the reasons Autistic life expectancies are a mere 34-55 years!
It's dangerous to be disconnected from our Neurodivergent flow, our identity and culture: the natural way we love, play, learn, work, live and heal.
We don't' underestimate the vital practice of our safety and wellbeing in all we do.
Our very lives depend upon it.
I wish I was told about our current dyer short live expectancies when we leant we are amazing Autistics, as knowing this, assists with all our decisions to live longer rather than risk dying to 'fit' in. Autism doesn't kill us, trying not to be Autistic does.
Our lives matters – we matter.

Well, that got deep fast! Ops, I can't help myself!
Roarheart.com is a platform demonstrating radical acceptance through personal storytelling, sharing lived experience of reclaiming, reviving and protecting autistic/neurodivergent identity and culture.
Neurodivergent flow is the natural way an autistic/neurodivergent human loves, plays, learns, works, lives and heals.
It's the way we roll.
Read, view and listen to lived experience through stories of how one parent and their child thrive naturally and happily when connected to their Neurodivergent Flow.

My indigenous friend and I swapped paintings as gifts to one another. Our demonstration of appreciation and gratitude of the personal heartfelt stories of vulnerability shared together through our art and the survival of abusing ourselves with alcohol.
