Getting together with friends and family is wonderful, filled with beautiful moments of connection through; sharing, telling stories, awkward moments and laughter .

My own and child's anxiety builds before, during and after.

We both internalise our big thoughts and feelings the whole time we are with others.

Yet we are listening to what our anxiety is communicating to us.

Anxiety is happening for a good reason.

It is designed to protect us and we work out what it is and do what we need to do look after ourselves.

It might be to step away from humans for a little while to chill, sit, sing, walk, whatever to regulate.

We gravitate to humans we feel at ease and good with and give little time or attention to judgie fudgies; those that invoke more anxiety.

We require tremendous love compassion acceptance and understanding.

First from ourselves and others (those who are capable of this).

We both know we are limited by how much socialising we can experience before it becomes too much for our minds, hearts and bodies.

We know we need to leave whenever we need.

There is no wrong, rude or bad time to leave.

It's harmful to our being to stay.

We have unique needs, like every other human on the planet and we take responsibility to look after ours.

We do what we love before, during and after socialising to stay in tune and connected with ourselves because it creates great joy, regulates and assists us to make decisions right for us!
